Finding the time…to write…

This season I am in right now is the highest of high crazy and i seem to be unable to sit down for a few minutes or 20 to write on my blog. I am always a little in awe of people who manage to write so often and get posts edited an up all the time.

Im not sure if its that they can just formulate their thoughts a lot quicker than me or if they are less anal about the images they post. I am. I know it. I edit every single image that goes onto my blog and that takes time. I also wont post something im not happy with…so sometimes a post doesnt get written because i dont have the right image for it.

I guess images are important to me.

The time i write is at night generally when the kids are in bed and with our older ones going to bed later and later that time seems to be getting smaller and smaller..I dont need a whole lot of sleep but i do need sleep and generally i try and cut off by midnight because i get up at 6 and i think 6 hours sleep is the minimum really. (for me anyhow)

Ive tried writing in the day and its just too hard. If the kids are not sitting on the arm of the chair asking me questions then they are quiet somewhere and with toddlers we all know what that means!!

This week though my littlest has lost her daytime playmate to school and so the chance of writing in the day often looks like this….

I did try and in the end i gave up!

When is the best time for you to write?

I don’t go out to work so that would make it impossible for me I think. I write when the kids aren’t around too – yeh sometimes that is in the middle of the night, but mainly in the time when they are all at school. I’m hoping it will all get easier when the youngest is full time. I think I have become less picky with photos but I wont post without an image or use anyone else’s image either.

I write madly when I get five minutes!?! I generally try to write on a Sunday, or at least draft the weeks posts, and hubby kindly takes the kids for a few hours… I’m also quite picky, so not the fastest! It’s hard! I do a bit most evenings too… Commenting is the one that gets me… Wee girls nap time!!

LOVE this set of photos! That could be me and the wee girl!

What ? you mean your very nearly three year old won’t just sit next to you for hours on end while you edit, write and think…….. ???!

I have more time than most I think, in bed…..every cloud ey !

Your perfectionism where images are concerned is worth it though…i am too lazy I think.

I think I’d have a very similar set up if I tried to write during the day! I mostly write in the evening after the girls are in bed and the washing up is done but I don’t publish until the next morning just in case I come out with something completely daft in a moment of sleep deprivation! It’s so hard to prioritise writing because it is just a hobby at the end of the day, albeit a hobby that maintains my sanity!

Lovely photos of you Sarah. I write at nap times, and I write in the evenings. I spend most of my evenings on the laptop apart from once a week when we have our date night on a Wednesday and usually a Saturday night too. I am also lucky that Mads naps for 2.5 hours in the afternoon too, and LL for some of that- normally about an hour at least.
Sometimes I think I shouldn’t spend much time on the computer, but taking photos, editing, and blogging is my only hobby. I don’t really watch that much TV so its my thing- at least thats my excuse for being on the computer so much! ;0) x

Great post Sarah. You really don’t need many words when you’re posting wonderful photos like this. Love them! I’m the same as you, no posting if the photos aren’t good enough! Time is limited too after Monday because of work. Thank you so much for sharing with #whatsthestory

Honestly, I have no idea how parents with babies and toddlers do it. I started my blog when my kids started school, otherwise I’d never get anything done!

Not easy at all is it? I think probably like most parents I make use of the evenings, normal set up is both me and Alex watching TV with laptops on our laps. I also make good use of the schedule function…
