Sandy. Windy. Slow Shutter. #countrykids

In the half term we had one of those days when the weather was totally awful and one of those times when this little corner of the world seems at its wettest and coldest. Winter seemed to be shamelessly wrecking our half term plans and we spent far too much of the day inside!

The kids were going stir crazy and we had little options for what to do with them for the short period of time before tea. So we threw them in the car and headed out to the incredible Crosby beach where the Anthony Gormley statues are. Parking up we had no idea what was waiting for us!. The most incredible wind! It was enough to pretty much stand and lean into and not fall over. Seriously. Insane.

The Sand was being blown across the beach and it actually looked like moving water it was going so fast. I tried to capture it a bit by using slow shutters but i didn’t have a tripod  and balancing on the sand on my knees being blown by  incredible wind was going to be tricky for hand shake! But some of the effects were really good.

We didn’t actually last that long, the kids thought it was hilarious to run into the wind!

We all ran/walked or staggered to the nearest statue and then ran and blown back to the car.

Talk about invigorating!! I think we all came away with sand rash!

Then we headed home via a supermarket for some sausages and rolls and had a lovely warm up with hot dogs and chocolate!

Glory prized from the hands of defeat!! In your face dreary wintery weather!

Oh, what fun! The photos are brilliant, you can see how windy it was – love the blurry action shots 🙂 You know they say there is no such thing as bad weather…! #CountryKids

The photos work really well, I can almost feel the wind coming off them. It was just the same for us at half term and we too braved the beach. Sometimes you have to put two fingers up at the weather and just do it! Glad it worked out for you all and thankyou for sharing on Country Kids.

You are brave! Wind is my least favourite type of weather, but there is something about spending a little time on a windy beach that is so appealing. Lovely photos.

Gorgeous photos, and I can just imagine that wind! Lovely to round it all off with hot dogs and chocolate, too 🙂

Lovely! A windy day in suffolk is always best spent on the beach when we’re visiting grandma.

Love the last picture particularly. We did the same as you but have a pebbly beach. It makes me feel so alive when I go down to our windy sea front

Wow, windy doesn’t even begin to describe it does it?
I like the one of everyone posing in a group and the dog looking like he’s about to be blown over 🙂
