a little lesson from the barber…

a couple of days ago we went to get Isaac’s hair cut. It had grown LOTS over the summer and we had just left it…ya know..just let it grooow.

We were asking the barber if it gets busy at this time of year what with back to school and everything…and he said yes it does, then he said..

‘ i dont know why people are so desperate to have their kids hair cut short…i mean kids all look the same in their uniforms anyway, its a shame that they all have the same short haircuts too..i mean were is the individuality in that?”

and you know what, i have been thinking about that since. I did volunteer the ‘its because he might get nits’ argument to the barber but he looked suitably un-impressed.

Anyways, it was a lesson.. to let my boy be who he is and not worry about him fitting in. After all that is probably my worry and not his in all honesty at the moment. He is a little kid who abundantly loves his life and in a totally fabulous and enviable way doesnt really care about what he looks like….yet…I really hope that he never worries about it.

cute haircut! I have the same debate with my mum over the twins ‘long’ hair-she thinks I should get it all chopped off but I like their curls & they do too…. do have the occasional old dear who asks ‘How old is she?’ when they wear red though!!! LOL!!! Hope Isaac has a great time starting school.

ah yes, the hair thing. somewhere between wild and untameable and shorter than short I think is good;)
I have no say now tho, with my only boy. being 15 his hair is pretty long and a source of bickering between him and his father. oh great joy…
Cut Mollies hair short once. not doing that again tho. and *not* entertaining my MIL’s suggestion I cut daisys hair EVER! LOL
