another change of plan…

We visited some friends of ours who live about an hour or so away and went and had a picnic at a local national trust property. When we arrived there was a big long queue to get in and we ended up parking in the over flow parking (which was a big field) and in the end the sun was shining so we just hung out by the cars and the kids ran up and down, flying kites, kicking balls and generally being free to be. So not the trip to the national trust property that had been planned but lots of fun had in the national trust property car park……

12 weeks..

12 weeks old today..Wow that is a water shed right there isnt it…I mean 12 weeks, officially no longer a squidy newborn and now growing into a nearly 3 month old babba. Cant. quite. believe. it.

So some things about my little Matilda Rose…

1. She is all smiles at the moment, toothless, lovely bits of sunshine. she doesnt care who you are or it seems in fact what you are she will give you a great big smile. The fridge, the cooker, the bathtub and bizarrely, today, the talcum powder bottle.

2. She still has a cold…i think she is getting on for about 4 weeks worth now…c'mon antibodies do your stuff!

3. She sleeps…really well and im not a 'sleep-bragger'…you know the type…'oh, really..your baby was up all night…hmm…little Joey has been sleeping through since his first night at home..' Those kind of comments always make you want to scratch your eyes out in despair dont they? So I wont go on, she has just sorted herself out…i still have no formula to get babies to sleep well, even after having four. Sometimes they wake, sometimes they dont…

4. She is still keeping us fairly challenged in the washing department. Isaac's first question now if he holds her is 'will she puke on me?'

5. After an initial period of being a bit 'unhappy' for no apparent reason. She now pretty much only cries if something is up….food, sleep or wind….

6. She has just moved into 0-3month old clothing. Few bits of newborn still fit her but she is pretty much out…thats a little bit sad….

7. Still working the Mohawk 🙂

8. She likes to lay down and watch the world go by or sit up in her chair and do the same….not a big fan of the in between positions.

9. She is ticklish…just waiting for those giggles to follow…

10. Starting to talk, cute coos and gurgles…seems to have lots to say 😉

11. She tolerates lots of slightly over excessive cuddles from her siblings with pretty good humour……minimal complaints, well as yet anyway

12. Nearly 3 months in and we are enjoying being a family of six. She brightens up the day. Oh how we love her…..

The best laid plans…

but no mice were involved so it was just the best laid plans of me and Ben and the four kidlets…..that all went a bit 'pete tong' this weekend.

Initially we got invited to my brother's for easter sunday a while back which we had thought we would go to…

then…ben's mum was poorly so as we havent seen them for a while we thought we would go down there…

then….ben's mum seemed too busy for us to go down and was still unwell anyway…so we couldnt go to see them…

then…my mum and dad's dog got poorly and had to be sent to the vets for a couple of days and mum was too nervous to leave him in kennels to travel north (oh because they were going to my brothers…following?)

so then..my dad decided he would go to my brothers and my mum would stay at home and dogsit the poorly dog…

so then I thought 'well that leaves mum on her own and us with no plans. because we had already declined my brother and i think you need some notice for a family of 6 to descend on you!!

then….we decided to drive to be with Mum for easter sunday and so we bundled the kids in the car on saturday and drove some 250miles and spent a delightful day on sunday in the South.

So even though it appeared that all plans went a bit belly up over Easter…..

i think it all worked out for the good…

and today i am wearing….

IMG_3358

this exact outfit, even though i took this picture a few days ago, the crazy washing rotation in this house means that it is all clean and dry again very quickly. Which is good because she looks cute in it…i think…

and those booties she has on which were loaned to me by a friend who resides between here and Auckland, NZ are apparently a very trendy designer New Zealand make called 'Dimple'…..might mean something to some of you but i just thought they were cute and moreover they stay on her feet!! Just goes to show that function really does come above 'brand' when it comes to baby clothes….

A busy couple of days here in the James household, we went to see some friends on Sunday and had a lovely picnic and play with them. I have pictures…we have friends staying for a few days and then at the end of the week my parents are coming up, the kids are counting down the days….
