feeling thankful…

so thanksgiving day. Not something we celebrate in the UK but something i think we should. Being thankful….something one or two of my children struggle with….

for example whilst talking to one of my kids about his/her christmas list i said…

'you know there are a lot of very expensive things on that list.'

to which they said…

'well, that doesnt matter because Father christmas can get them.'

Now dont get me dragged into a discussion on whether or not you should 'do' father christmas with your child or not..thats not up for grabs here..but i want to know how you explain that actually..*ahem* father christmas had a budget!

Anyway i like the idea of being setting aside a day to be thankful, not that you shouldnt be every day…but you know what i mean…

This was made ever more clear to me when i was in work on Wednesday night and had a sharp and very stark reminder of why i should be so very very thankful for all the wonder i have….

so i am thankful for…..

this incredible bunch of folk…

Bekidsdoor
and not forgetting….
Matildaclap

and they are just the tip of the iceberg……

what are you thankful for?

get outta here…

10months
i love this expression on her face…kind of 'well you know im sat on the floor, on my brother's coat and thats okay..its interesting..sat here..on the floor….im not bothered….

..um…..

so i think….

'waaaaaaaaaaaahhhh'

heh heh..no she didnt burst into tears, she was okay and after this she decided to forage in my bag which is just to the right of her and she what she could find.

I know every month i come here with and lament the speed of time…its just not fair, it moves to quick and i just cant.stop.saying.it!

Someone said to me the other day the more kids you have the faster the baby stage goes by, probably because you are so busy. But these days with Matilda have flown. I was writing in my 2010 diary the other day and realised how close we are to her shhhh 'first birthday' and im just staggered that this time last year she was so nearly here…..

<sigh>

Anyway…Matilda Rose James at 10 months you are:

1. Going backwards, as in motion, its frustrating for you and us. You end up under the furniture and we have to come rescue you…often…
2. You like to stand, you get a bit smart and try one handed but so far that produces the mother of all wobbles.
3. If its on the floor its worth giving it a taste…
4. You have already sussed out that the iphones look int-er-esting…grabby grabby…
5. You have 1 dress and 1 skirt. We like trousers, they are easy and especially good when sliding round on your belly is the way forward…..or backward
6. You will not drink anything but milk.
7. Still no teeth, hey still a breastfed baby..you wont hear me complaining!
8. You were the best behaved a your sisters ballet show. Sat and clapped your hands and pumped your legs to the music. You were enchanted i think.
9. early morning you decamp to our bed and snuggle for a bit. Although its a bit on the early doors side kid, i love the snuggly bit
10. You are still sleeping in the nature nest and bouncing it like an athlete.
11. you have been to your first party. A swimming party for one of Isaac's buddies.
12. You hair appears to be going curly at the back, it might just be bed head tho 🙂
13. You are still very cautious around people you dont know, particularly if they pick you up. Horrified usually describes your expression.
14. Who needs to learn to move when you have a big brother and sister who will tote you around the house, even if the way they carry you looks pretty unsafe…to me..
15. you take it into your head to do random back flips when sat up. You can be sat happily playing and then all of a sudden throw yourself backwards..its like spinal turrets…its not always a happy ending tho, sometimes there is something soft behind you, sometimes its the cold, hard floor…you may want to re-think this behaviour lovely.

My bonnie wee girl. We love you.

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Sift together the flour, salt and baking soda. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar. Beat in the instant pudding mix until blended. Stir in the eggs and vanilla. Blend in the flour mixture. Finally, stir in the chocolate chips and nuts. Drop cookies by rounded spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven. Edges should be golden brown.

I didnt use nuts (my kids dont like them) and where it says vanilla pudding i used vanilla angel delight… and because i was a bit puzzled on how to measure cups of butter..i worked it out and its a little over 200g butter..All purpose flour for us brits is plain flour…and everything else is kind of self explanatory. My kids love them and they make for great packed lunch fillers! Btw i got this recipe from Tasty kitchen which you can get to from the Pioneer woman blog 🙂
happy eating xx

needing some camera time…

took a quick spin to the park after school on thursday, dodging the raindrops to give the kids a run around before tea and give me a chance to take some photos. I was just feeling a bit like i hadn't taken any in a while and I start to miss my camera…..

been playing with the shutter, i had it at i think 1/5, which i think might have been a bit too slow, they do look like they are going a lot faster than they actually were. But i sorta like the effect.
Matilda was loving the swing…she got a lot of very 'helpful' pushes from various sibs…but seemed to enjoy it. She is 10 months old tomorrow….gah!!
