‘its just a slice of cheese’….

have you read the story about the McDonald's store that fired someone for giving a customer an 'extra' piece of cheese.  If you havent you can read it here

I had to giggle when i read that. You wouldn't want to work in that store. Their disciplinary procedure seems a little harsh…but then again i think maybe the NHS could learn maybe a little lesson from them. They just move people about rather than fire them. Moving the problem or problems from one department to another…'musical unworkable people' Because it takes like a million years and at least a thousand people complaining to actually get thrown out of the NHS…

not that i've tried….

obviously….

But if you read the story about the McDonald's worker she actually sold a friend a hamburger who then said 'hey i fancy a bit of cheese on that' So the worker, being a good friend, got her friend a piece of cheese and McDonald's are saying that given that by putting a bit of cheese on it made it a cheeseburger (more expensive..by like 5p or something), she was 'giving away gifts' to a friend which is against company policy….so they fired her. She took it court the judge justifiably said… 'its just a slice of cheese!' no doubt with an element of eye rolling…..

my thoughts were:

firstly a piece of floppy, processed, neon orange coloured cheese doesn't really fall into the category of 'gifts' in my book. Im thinking if i had a friend who was in the habit of giving me those sort of 'gifts' perhaps they wouldn't be so much of a friend anymore…

Secondly as anyone knows who has worked in McDonald's…they make a huge number of products and have little way of tracking through the tills every single burger etc that goes out. So it is actually very very easy for people to add a little something extra to a friend's bag when they place their order….so i'm thinking tip of the iceberg and maybe they should worry about the people giving away three big mac meals, a milk shake and an apple pie for the price of an orange juice…

Obviously all above suggestions are purely fictitious and bear no resemblance to real life.

*cough cough*

thanks…

for those sweet comments on my last post. It didnt bug me really..I just thought it was an incredibly random thing to say….and odd…but then i've always shied away from the 'lets compare our babies gang..' 'my babies walking, talking, eating, feeding, reading, writing, composing symphonies…' type of person….

but thanks…we are very pleased with the size of Matilda's head…

😉

so onwards with my POTD and today as i waited for Maisie to finish her piano lesson..in which i heard her asking Zoya

'Why are the black keys called sharps? They are not sharp?'

I saw this and just thought it was oh so pritty….love the texture on the glass…

and then of course we hit the swimming pool and i had to deal with a very upset Poppy who despite being moved up a group because her swimming is coming on so well..she didnt want to be taught by that man(a young guy who teaches the next group)…so she bawled on the side of the pool for about 15 minutes whilst glaring at this guy before they let her stay in the lower group…I sure hope he has got a thick skin…

a thought…

i had a lady come up to me at a toddle group on friday and she had a, i would say, 8 week old baby on her shoulder…well..you know over her shoulder not on her shoulder like a parrot…

anyways I sort of vaguely know her and she stopped to say hello….conversation went like this…

Her (talking to Matilda) 'Oh my..look at you..What is your Mummy feeding you?"

me: thinking – 'er…food…milk..what do you feed your kid..nails?' actually said 'heh..heh..huh…hum'

Her: 'Seriously tho if you just compare (turns to show me her babies head) the difference in their head sizes!…I mean its huge' (not sure here if she was talking about Matilda's head or the difference)

me: thinking – 'Lady your baby is a few months old! guessing you wouldnt have liked to deliver the head of a one year old. There is a reason they start of small you know!" actually said: 'Well she is one you know!'

and made a quick depart with my one year old whose head is not the size of an 8 week old. I wondering if she was expecting me to say 'ah yes..thanks for asking… i feed her mars bars and chips washed down with full fat coke..you think that's okay?' Sheesh…..

Man, why is is such a juicy topic of conversation with some mums? Its like baby weight touretts isnt it? Nothing like setting these kids up for a world of comparison….gah!!!

Well i came away feeling so much richer for that little exchange….
Moving on…so sunday pictures…

do you like board games? I am developing a liking for them….today we played some snakes and ladders and a bit of make a story puzzles before heading out to a friend's little boys party…
Snakesandladders

we had lunch at Asda while we waited for Maisie who was at a party. On the way to the car Poppy said to me 'Mummy that lunch was Fab-u-lous!' Cute for floppy sandwiches, yogurt and a packet of wotsits!

saturday POTD…

Foggysatmornoldwest

this is the very old tennis club building that Maisie does her ballet in every saturday morning. It seems so broken down but there is a thriving little community using it.

Maisiefacepaint

Maisie went to her school friend's party after ballet, there was face painting and my girls are avid face paint fans! She was a giraffe! I have no idea why she chose that but we had to go rub it off when she decided she didnt like it and she went back for the 'usual' cat.

Btw I used a photoshop action on that top photo..freebie from the incredible pioneer woman…speaking of pioneer woman..these are Matilda's new shoes…

Matildashoes

Seriously..how cute..what girl doesnt need a pair of bright red cowboy boots? We are just waiting for her to get off her butt and go out and wrangle some cattle
