Loosing your tooth is a big deal…loosing your first tooth is an even bigger deal. Maisie lost her first tooth yesterday and between us (thats me and her) we had wibbled and wobbled the tooth for a couple of days and sunday evening it just came out…and we were all delighted for her……
she cried her eyes out for about 15 minutes. We were all pretty confused, then she turned a corner, stopped crying and disappeared off to bed.
About an hour later i noticed this on her door. It is a letter to the tooth fairy and it says "A letter for the tooth fairy..I want a coin but i like my tooth. I want to keep my tooth but you can take it because I have another wobbly tooth and i can keep that one..from Maisie" then she drew a little picture of what her tooth looks like and labelled it 'my tooth'
Just about the cutest thing i have seen so far. I called Ben to come look and Isaac appeared at the same time. Isaac read the note and smiled and said 'you know, you should put that on facebook!" Which i laughed out loud at. Life lived on the web. Its going to be totally normal…in as much as actually not putting your kids cute letter to the tooth fairy on facebook would be well…weird…
and today we are baking and making and planning for a cake sale in school tomorrow to raise money for the devastating situation in East Africa. Maisie and her friend came up with the idea and the school have got a couple of others involved to sell some stuff at the school to raise money. I was 100% behind it, even though last week of term, going back to work, 5 children in general is not the best place to squeeze some time to make and decorate 100 cupcakes. But i am for anything that gets the kids realising just how fortunate they are.
We were chatting this evening before the kids went to bed and i was trying to explain to them just how far some people were walking to get a drink of water and Maisie said to me.
"you know mum if Africa was in heaven, it could just say 'I NEED WATER' and all of a sudden a 1000 cups of water would appear on a table and everyone would say there you go, go and have a big drink.
Shame we can't have a bit of heaven on earth eh?
Please excuse my crazy font surfing..i have no idea whats going on and im too tired to try and correct it.
