With a bunch of pictures in a handy three x three template, which works exceptionally well when the subject is turning 9. Although technically…this is actually 8 years, as the baby in the last one is now a walking, talking, screeching toddler.
anyway..digressing…
My lovely boy from a couple of days after he was born (after the phototherapy – less orange) to when he cuddled his new sib when she was days old.
Our pioneer in this parenting game. So far, so good.
to think that it is cute and endearing and focus on and mutter to myself 'treasure the moments' when you do this to me all the time while im making tea in the kitchen…..
well sorta…a friend of mine Hannah, left a comment with her ten on tuesday and as she hasn't yet got a blog…get one, get one Mrs.D…. I thought i would post her comments here because i like her thoughts on a tuesday morning. Rambling and wondering…much like my thought most of the time. My favourite – 'the wire bird thingy' – not even sure what it is but somehow feel like i must have one.
here's my ten on tuesday, on a wednesday.
1. This week i have really enjoyed the wet and grey weather, i usually hate it, but this week felt like it was o.k
2. This morning Willow ( 1 yr) ate a one day old prawn off the floor. Floor eating is common in our house, but usually not sea food….. hoping there won't be a dodgy tummy later
3. while i type this my daughter is in the other room playing and i have no idea quite what she's up to
4. my only pair of jeans ripped at the croch ( spelling ?!) at the weekend, while i was at my parents, my mum pointed it out to me two days later after having flashed my knickers to more than a few people. So like you Sarah i may be jeans shopping soon.
5. Today i spent £5 on something i really didn't need. a wire bird thing. totally pointless but i just wanted it.
6. I made a stew in the slow cooker, thought adding a lemon would make it taste nice, it didn't. so now i have about 5 meals worth of bitter tasting, but very healthy stew.
7. I love big trees, never tire of them, especially at this time of year. Something so majestic about them.
8. I love Stevie Wonder, Willow has developed a kind of head bobbing motion to music, and when he came on the radio, she rewarded him with the said action, i felt proud.
9 Today i unpacked the shopping in one go without having to rest for an hour after every few bags, so that was nice.
10 I have always hated tuesdays, think it's cos we had science in the afternoon at primary school on them when i was a kid……maybe time to move on !
1.J5 turned 1 a week or so ago and we bought her this for her birthday:
and in true baby/toddler style she has resolutely ignored it. Hmpf. I thought it was cool. You can read about it here.
2. Having two girls so close together is great for lots of things, like um..when they both do different ballet/modern lessons they can each wear the outfits and shoes as if they have their own individual pair. Scuppered when they are both appearing in the same show! I was telling the lady in the ballet shoe shop this story and how it necessitated me buying a pair each for them. She asked me if in fact they were both in the same acts and if they weren't they could simply swop back stage. Yeah, i can see that working out effectively……lol
3. Im thinking of writing a product review for this buggy.
I have had one for getting on for 6 years and have had 2 models. So i know it pretty well and there are some things about it that just drive me a bit crazy…and you know, the joy of t'internet means that i can tell the three people who read here all about it!
4. There are a few photographers doing overseas photo work shops at the moment. Trying ever so hard to contain my jealousy..but green is a good colour on me so might just go with it :))
5. On this day 9 years ago i was sat in delivery suite at work awaiting the birth of my first baby. Ben reminded me today that we watched a film while we were waiting. Back in the days when the televisions actually 'worked' in the Womens! A random film about a kid stuck in a mine shaft or something. I googled it and came up with this. Had no idea it was such a big story in America. Guessing my american friends will remember it.
6. Love this little company from Canada who posted me some cute hats for my newbie babies. go check it out. bubblegirl knit
7. Jeans shopping last week, got introduced to 'NYDJ' which aside from the scary pricetag, they reminded me of those jeans that were around in the 80's. Not sure what to think of them, being as my oldest daughter is 7 then there isn't that much of a chance of me mixing up her jeans with mine. Although MrJ has been known to wear our son's socks before. lol. In the end I stuck with Levi's.
8. Listening to the radio over the past couple of weeks. I came across this song,
googled the band and discovered that they are high priests in the Country and Western world. Which, i have to say, was almost a nail in the coffin moment. But i like them. There, i said it 🙂
9. Picked up the Lakeland catalogue on my trip into town last week. So far, in my mind, i have made Jam, pickled tomatoes, cleaned my floor, curtains, made the perfect poached eggs and baked and iced a couple of hundred cupcakes :p
10. So my iphone is slowly showing signs of age or more likely showing signs of being played with my toddlers and im wondering about the new iphone 4s. hmmmmm…
so there's my ten on tuesday. you can play along and tell me about it in comments or on facebook, twitter: apartyofseven..
What is the best thing that has happened to you as result of blogging.
I tentatively stumbled into the world of blogging when my now nearly 6 year old daughter was still just a baby, i think sitting up in a highchair (just) type baby. A friend of mine had mentioned she had one and that it was the new thing in how people kept in touch and shared ideas about topics, ordinary and extraordinary!
Wandering into Typepad interface for the first time i chose a name based on kids tv programme that my kids were into at the time, yeah..not the most imaginative but three kids under 4 meant my decision making process was fairly ….um..basic.
I often wonder why i actually did start a blog. At the time i did say it was for the benefit of my family, so they could keep up with what the kids are doing etc. But actually I think i started because i wanted to write…something i have always wanted to have a go at and never really known how to. So in my own little way this was my place to start getting 'out there'
But i think perhaps the best things so far about this blog was that it gave me an interface to share some information that i was too scared to share face to face with people. Mostly because i was frightened of their reactions to our surprising news.
You can read that post here and i was terrified when i pressed publish but what i received was such warmth and support and encouragement that it lifted me and bouyed me in a time when i was drowning in shock and disappointment.
and that was (as Lola would say) my favourite and my best.
and the happy ending to that story is right here….
