apparently…

its 34 days till christmas, I know 'cos i was in Borders today and they had a sign on the way in telling me so……so very helpful!!

Christmas is my favourite time of year, i love christmas dinner, the tree, the trimmings, the long, winding meal times with friends and family. Its weird too that i have had some of my most stressful experiences over christmas too and yet i still love it.

My fav bit from last year was Isaac coming into our room, face aglow, telling us there was a big sack of presents on his bed. It was magical…really.

It can be a bit difficult to start 'traditions' when you have a job like mine which requires you to carry on working over the holidays but last year we did the gingerbread house which was fun and we try to take the kids to the cathedral for carols on christmas eve. So i was just wondering what kind of traditions you have out there? Just being curious…….

you know 'cos its getting closer…..

I love christmas too! It’s even more magical when you have little children around! My favourite family tradition is that we always sing HAppy Birthday to Jesus before our Christmas meal. this year we are going to make a birthday cake too! It helps us all to remember the real reason for Christmas. And I love decorating the tree with the boys with all the weird & beautiful things the boys have made over the years at nursery, Sticky Fingers & school! It makes a really cheerful homely tree! :o)

Christmas eve is the part of our family Christmas I love most. We go to mass and sing carols, and celebrate the birth of Jesus. Then we come home, and invite those nearest and dearest to come and share the magic of Christmas eve with us. In England it included a roaring open fire, but here…. that won’t work! So we share some nibbles, and Santa always comes to talk to the children to remind them that they must go to bed early, and leave him and the reindeers some goodies. Last year he even bought his ‘goodometer’, the paperwork issued for each child letting him know how good they have been! We all love it,the angels eyes are just ablaze with excitement, long may it last! Christmas day is now very different for us, so we haven’t quite found what works for us here yet, after only one Christmas.
