this week baby i promise….

I did try really hard to be interested in all things 'game console' this week with J1..honest. 🙂

At the moment life is so frantic i feel that my promise every week should be 'not get too stressed!' Actually that should be a promise to everyone in the family including me not just the baby. But anyway that aside my promise fo this week goes back to baby.

This week baby i promise:

to not completely FREAK out when i have found that you are discovering yet another thing to climb on and inevitably fall from. My word, this child has some climber's blood in her!

Mix tape monday…

This weeks mix tape monday run over there at booandme blog is all about the best concert you ever went to see. hmmm….

probably going to have to be this band that i went to see with my brother when i was 16. It was the first concert i had ever been to without parents and we were both close to the front and i remember being lifted off the floor at one stage by the moshing. I lost my voice at that concert and had aching legs for weeks. Ahhhh…good times.

I discovered thursday’s thought..

thats not to say i don't actually think for myself on thursday…um…well..most of the time that would be accurate. This week, the amount of sleep we've had, the amount of vomit ive cleared up..not so much. But anyway im digressing.

I came across this and it struck me as a good grey matter test. Its something that can get me thinking. A topic that makes me think and maybe even you dear solitary blog reader of mine.

..I came across this here.  on the lovely pinkoddy's blog. Go check it out 🙂

You can join in too.

i noticed this on the bbc news website today:

Girls are growing up in a "moral abyss" where being dressed in "mini-me" sexy clothing and wearing make-up is acceptable, a schools leader has said.

This subject is growing more and more of an issue for me as my girls get older. I think i first became aware of it when i went looking for clothes for my oldest daughter in a well known high street chain and as she is out of the 'young girls' age i was shocked to find that most of the clothes available to her in this particular brand where what appeared to be small versions of teenager or young adult clothes.

This is for a 6 year old girl. In my view, still a little girl who doesn't need to wear off the shoulder bra strap tops.

the article went on to say:

"What hope have we got of safeguarding our children's sacred childhood if they are knocked off their feet on the nursery slopes of life by an avalanche of images and malign influences?

"And make no mistake, this is what is happening."

She added: "It is time to take up the drawbridge of the liberal dogma of the past which has left us with the moral abyss of the present."

I want to be protective of my girls childhood. But think about it, the imagery that bombards these girls all the time often does nothing to preserve the innocence of childhood.

But should I feel like this or am i trying to create a childhood that maybe i had in a time when kids just are not like that anymore. Times change, things are so different now. But I still feel that little girls in make up, high heels and mini teenager clothes sort of makes me a bit sad, nostaligic even for when we wore jeans and trainers all day and tore around on bikes, living free. But then that freedom no longer exists anymore either.

Hmmmmm…what do you think?
