who is now incredibly 10 months old…and trying her absolute hardest to walk. She will hold onto your hands for a bit and just let go. Ive told her you have actually got to be able to stand up without hanging onto something okay before you start taking steps..but she doesn't listen.
WHAT an incredibly frantic week. I went back to work, which in itself was a big deal. The kids have had football and dance camp at the local university and we have subsequently been you-tubing the girls music choices from the camp. Which is interesting when all you have to go with is one line from the chorus. Takes a couple of attempts and so far we have eventually hit on the one they are dancing to…this one which i really like..
they didn't dance to this version but i like it better.
and this one:
followed by a crazy couple of days of camping stuff everywhere, last minute buys and realising that the car tax was a bit out of date *Coughcough***
and in amongst all that juggling 5 small dudes. You know there just aren't enough hours in the day. What the heck did we all do before we have kids!?? Man, because right now i can't even remember.
blue sky, warm breeze, lamb roast, formula one on the TV..which took care of what Ben and Isaac did for a few hours. So the girls and i played in the garden and i got my camera out and took some pictures of my kids..shock…it was lovely though, they are all such good models…
yup..
trained 'em good.
i tweeted over the weekend, wondering if you could wash lunchboxes in a washing machine and it seemed a general consensus that they would survive..which is why you see them hanging on the washing line. it worked!
and Maisie has not got a bad case of jaundice but she was poking her head through a duvet cover hanging on the line and i thought it would be fun to see what we got. yeh…so that would be yellow then ;=/
I returned to work today. Survived. only one or two stare into space moments but otherwise not so bad..change is often good and so i don't really view starting again with trepidation although it was very strange being on days when i usually work nights and seeing all my night worker compadres leaving as i arrived. Kinda missed them today.
Loosing your tooth is a big deal…loosing your first tooth is an even bigger deal. Maisie lost her first tooth yesterday and between us (thats me and her) we had wibbled and wobbled the tooth for a couple of days and sunday evening it just came out…and we were all delighted for her……
she cried her eyes out for about 15 minutes. We were all pretty confused, then she turned a corner, stopped crying and disappeared off to bed.
About an hour later i noticed this on her door. It is a letter to the tooth fairy and it says "A letter for the tooth fairy..I want a coin but i like my tooth. I want to keep my tooth but you can take it because I have another wobbly tooth and i can keep that one..from Maisie" then she drew a little picture of what her tooth looks like and labelled it 'my tooth'
Just about the cutest thing i have seen so far. I called Ben to come look and Isaac appeared at the same time. Isaac read the note and smiled and said 'you know, you should put that on facebook!" Which i laughed out loud at. Life lived on the web. Its going to be totally normal…in as much as actually not putting your kids cute letter to the tooth fairy on facebook would be well…weird…
and today we are baking and making and planning for a cake sale in school tomorrow to raise money for the devastating situation in East Africa. Maisie and her friend came up with the idea and the school have got a couple of others involved to sell some stuff at the school to raise money. I was 100% behind it, even though last week of term, going back to work, 5 children in general is not the best place to squeeze some time to make and decorate 100 cupcakes. But i am for anything that gets the kids realising just how fortunate they are.
We were chatting this evening before the kids went to bed and i was trying to explain to them just how far some people were walking to get a drink of water and Maisie said to me.
"you know mum if Africa was in heaven, it could just say 'I NEED WATER' and all of a sudden a 1000 cups of water would appear on a table and everyone would say there you go, go and have a big drink.
Shame we can't have a bit of heaven on earth eh?
Please excuse my crazy font surfing..i have no idea whats going on and im too tired to try and correct it.
this week has been one of those weeks…you know the kind when you find yourself exhaling A LOT……
just frantically busy and some curve balls has sent us all spiralling into a short but intense case of 'lets see who can be the crabbiest' competition in the James family. And i think im going to win. ;p
Is it just me, or as parent are there times when you look at the back of your child flouncing off having argued the hind leg of a horse at you and think 'er..im sorry who are you, do we know each other?"
My goodness…we all need a hol-ee-day.
Where do all the lids to the tupperware pots go? Just asking…'cos we have millions of them without lids, which is no good for keeping all the contents of kids pack ups from doing a fusion dance together before lunchtime. So where do they go? are they with the odd socks? Its a pain, especially when you do three lunches a day and you would rather not use a roll of cling film a week.
So in the very random nature of this post. Sports day. Yup. that would be me…with these two…
running around with a camera between these three (two of which were as far apart from each other as you could get)
its all good exercise you know, baby in a carrier, toddler running off in all directions, running up and down a school playing field to yell 'YAY" "WAHOO" "GO GO GO"
Just out of the picture was Maisie's helper junior. The little kids get paired with an older kid to help them out and stuff. Maisie's helper was called Connor and she was, i think, a bit fond of him. She said to me as i was putting her to bed. 'Mummy you know when i did my first running race, Connor said to his friend, she is really fast!' hmmmmm…..she is 6 last time i checked right?
Contrast that to Poppy, who in reception, is in her first ever sports day. I saw her refuse all help offered and did it resolutely on her own.
Isaac, with his very competitive nature, finds sports day hard because he struggles big time with loosing. which his team sadly did by one point. GAH!
just adding this little clip from the running race. just listen out for a little bit of sisterly encouragement…
please excuse the dodgy blurry video skills. Much as i love my camera and it has an amazing HD video capability I am fairly rubbish at using it!
So how long till the end of school now?
although of course that does mean i am hurtling towards my return to work. :-/
sitting in the tiny back room of an old hall waiting to go in for your turn in front of the examiner. I can actually remember doing that when i was a kid. Maisie is so totally laid back about it all, i think i was more nervous. This is her moments before she went in, doing stickers in her sticker book.
so cool, have no idea where she gets that from!!
waiting to go in…always has a smile…she's well trained :))
and of course…where i go…they go…
and actually keeping them quiet while the girls did their exam was in-ter-est-ing…
So proud of my Maisie though, she bounced out saying she enjoyed it more than a lesson and she just imagined the examiner was her regular ballet teacher. :))
