dear tummy bug…

lets face it, we have never been friends. I take particular dislike to you in a way others don't.

You have a habit of turning up at my house at quite frankly inconvenient times, like um…when i was pregnant…last trimester…every.single.time.  Nothing like a baby jumping around on your belly when tummy bug is in situ…if you know what i mean?

I thought we had our relationship with each other worked out, knew where we stood, you over there..me over here…then you crossed the line.

Six months old and dealing with a nasty tummy bug is no fun. No…fun.

When you can't sit up, you can't give warning, you don't even know why the milk you so desperately want is up the walls, carpet and floor. Its just mean.

Tummy bug.. you and I have fallen out….

again.

ten on tuesday….

and it is actually tuesday and it is only 10pm so there is a strong chance that this might actually get posted on tuesday to….

1. Today i have been one forgetful, forgetting fool. I managed to forget a pick up from the milkbank people, my wallet, leaving the car boot open when parked up outside the house and forgetting to pay someone….yeah i ended the day thinking i was lucky that i hadn't left a child somewhere.

2. Maisie did her grade 1 modern exam on saturday, seemed to go well. She is worried that she might have made one mistake…..i say when you are 6 and doing 'exams' one mistake is pretty good going.

3. The sun shone today…like properly warm and hot….okay, sorta hot. We went to feed the ducks, who were quite frankly pretty uninterested in the bread. Then to the climbing frame *shudder*

she had a bit of a spaced out look going on today too 🙂

4. 2, nearly 3 of my kids are now completely beyond me in the 'playing of musical instruments' category. Maisie is now ramping up the treble and bass clef music for the piano and Isaac is doing great with the drums and now guitar. Im thinking british version of 'the corrs'…and we already have an extra backing singer…heh heh.

5. i discovered this very very cute picture when i was deciding which photo to punt for on canvas. thanks to a groupon voucher we are only paying delivery costs.  this is Jemimah at about 6 days old.

 7. Nothing will take the sun out of your day like the words 'redeployment, redundancy and 'at risk' on a letter from your workplace. I give you the world of high tech, specialist neonatal intensive care, ladies and gentlemen.

8. The girls had no swim lesson this week due to a 'vomitinpool' incident. ICK…so we had to wash their hair at home. Something we don't often do actually, usually its an after swimming chore. Poppy hates having her her down. She likes it off the back of her neck and in a pony or plaits, she has such incredible hair, its such an amazing colour…so grabbed a few photos of it..you can see how impressed she was..

9. The moon did a thing the other night, i first heard about it when all the pictures were popping up on facebook. Passed. me. by.

10. Poppy asked me on the way to school this morning 'Mummy do fish sleep?' ……right out of the blue, where in the heck her thoughts were taking her who only knows?

six on sunday…seven on sunday…some on sunday…

*tap tap tap*

is this on?

Yup i was a bit absent there for a week or so. You know if i actually tried to think of a reason as to why i probably wouldn't be able to. I have had thoughts about what to blog and that is exactly where they stayed…'thoughts'…so here is hoping i can follow through a bit right now…

1. Okay so i know im coming a little bit late to the party here but..its official, we are 'into' The West Wing. Like i said i know its been done and gone for a bit and now all the proper fans are on their sixth run through of the box set series but…we are on series 2 and really enjoying it….mostly enjoying it more when the plot is not unfolding whilst its two frazzled viewers are kipping on the sofa and wake up for the credits…..and um…excuse me but how complicated is the American government/administration type thing?? House of representatives, senate, on the hill…sometimes when im watching i find myself thinking 'well i know that was english but i have no idea what they just said…'

*thanks to Phil and helen for lending us their Swiss copies of the series….'a la maison Blanche'*

2. Matilda has struck again with her artistic talent and scribbled on our hallway wall in black wax crayon. Little did i know that getting wax crayon off the wall is harder than felt tip. I have had a lots of suggestions of how to get it off……im thinking possibly an ebay auction for said artist..anyone?

3. She also had her 2 year review this week and the health care assistant who came to do it said 'oh she seems really quirky' Hopefully thats something she doesn't have to be referred for….

4. We have a car, one car, seven people…wondering if we are ever going to be able to afford to fill the tank up again….?

5. Im working on a separate blog for my photography, its nearly done. I have had such a great time doing the few shoots i have done up till now and am quite frankly secretly amazed people like what i'm doing…! Got a couple more in the pipeline over the next few months..so if you are interested do contact me 🙂

6. You know im not political really but….holy cow…..our government are making choices that just leave me open-mouthed. i understand we (as a country) are in stupid amounts of debt and there has to be a way to claw back some cash but demoting, devaluing and demoralising your front line health care workers seems like a particularly rubbish place to start. Especially when its initial promise was to protect you. The coal face workers, dealing with life and death, tragic situations and fragile, bewildered life. So, maybe not used to, and in the majority, not looking for large salaries, big bonuses, business lunches and sports cars….but being bundled together iindiscriminately and told you are not worthy of the role you may have been doing for years upon years cuts deeply into the now faltering belief that those who have chosen to care will be cared for.

7. To groupon or not to groupon? I have currently got two vouchers from them and will see how they work out. I remain a little undecided. Can there really ever be anything as a free lunch i wonder?

8. Matilda has developed an interest in diggers. There is quite a lot of building work around at the moment and so we are frequently passing diggers…she sits in the back shouting 'a nun digger'...which in case you were confused doesn't mean that there are a group of religious ladies in black partaking in a bit of roadway improvements. It is in fact 'another digger'

9. We have had to re-apply for passports for three of the kids. We are going skiing at the beginning of April and after weeks of making sure we filled in the right boxes, got the right 'no smiling' pictures of the kids and got the forms counter signed…we..um…neglected to include Jemimah's birth certificate….oops….kind of necessary…

10. I showed Isaac the other evening how to use the tablet and pen i have and then i briefly showed him how to use the brush tools in photoshop to get different colours. I left him for about ten minutes and when i came back he had drawn a plane, sky, clouds and sun…and coloured them in too…yeah…note to self…may as well accept that eventually and probably in the not too far off future my son's technical knowledge is going to be so far past mine….

11. Anyone else have scary heating and electric bills at the moment? Woah…im wondering if we are paying for next door too! Sia-nara tumble dryer ;(

12. Lastly Matilda loves going to the park and now that the weather is improving a bit we have been out feeding the ducks..although she bizarrely calls it 'feeling ducks…' which is at least a bit better than another child of mine who used to mispronounce the d-d-d sound for another letter….if you know what i mean ;D
