dad’s dancing…

Poppy's party today and i do have some party pics to process through and share but i had to share this because it really makes me smile.

Ben and our friend Alistair having a go at wii dance. Which was put on for the kids but as always the grown ups have to have a go.

Notice if you will the pure professionalism coming from Alistair, no….. he is not put off his stride when his young daughter tries to ask him something and continues on regardless when he clouts his other daughter upside the head….

Bringing out the boogie…

ten on tuesday….

yeah yeah i know its not tuesday but its tuesday on my christmas daily post thing…im only a day behind which i think is fairly good going….

so on tuesday we went to visit my friends Alan and Helen and caught up with them and their lovely family. So my ten is going to be about them….see if i can manage it…

1. I have known the Founds for getting on for about 14 years.

2. Helen makes the most incredible cakes/cookies/brownies and it seems such an effortless thing for her to do..she usually says things like 'i just have these mocha, choca, lotta cakes that i made this morning..'

3. I have babysat their kids on quite a few occasions in the past. I once took them all to Mcdonalds for lunch (the kids that is)..i think their parents knew that!

4. I have had some of my most treasured summer moments hanging out at their caravan at stoneleigh.

5. We have had both their now grown up sons visit us independently in Liverpool….something im quite pleased about, that they don't think we are weird friends of their parents..(well they might think that..but they are good at keeping it quiet)

6. They live on the steepest hill..its a wonder the houses in the street don't all fold into each other like people on a wurlitzer…

7. We have had many many long conversations…sometimes about the deepest parts of the soul and sometimes about nothing much at all….

8. Alan famously said to Ben and I when we were expecting Isaac, his chosen gold nugget of parenting advice to us was this…He asked….'have you ever been tired..'

We both looked at each other and said 'well, i think i have..yes'

To which Alan replied 'in a years time when your baby is however many months old you will think …i have never been tired'

9. Their daughter was a bridesmaid at my wedding, she was really very cute. She is now a lot bigger but still very sweet. I remember that we were shopping for bridesmaids dresses in Canterbury on September 11th 2001…..when i heard two shop assistants talking….

10. They have a new sofa now…we miss the old one..it used to suck you down like a vacuum….getting up was always a bit of fun….apparently they put it on the road for the council but someone passed by and asked if they could take it…

it lives on…..

Founds1

lunch time….i think Isaac may be holding that wall up..or stuck to it….

Founds2
Joel the baby whisperer…..

Founds3

'sorry.. we are only interested in the baby'……except Alan of course who i think is having a wee power nap….

Founds4

Jemimah laying on the charm. I have the same picture, i think, of Joel and Rach with Matilda when they came to visit us. These two love the wee babba stage. Guys, there will be no more small James babies..so if you want to have more cuddles come visit us……….quick!

Founds5
The very lovely emma, who wore her jammies all day…so i think would also fit in very well in our home town 🙂

monday…..

Today we planned to go sledging, that was if we could find any decent snow. But we couldn't really find any that wasn't slushy or plain disappearing. The two little ones fell asleep by the time we got to the hill and so we changed plan and I took the kids for a short run and climb up the hill. It was freezing. I didnt take my camera so used my phone camera…which most definately doesn't capture the huge panoramic view or the bitterly cold wind. But the kids were happy enough and warm enough ( we ran back up the hill) to goof around at the top before a quick jog back to the car and home for some hot drinks….

Poppy's idea for a photograph. Maisie was supposed to be in it but she was on a bench that was behind me!

saturday….

that was christmas then….

it started at the reasonable time of 7am for us, with a brief visit from Maisie at 6am but she was happy to go back to bed! Then stockings downstairs and the kids were totally in awe of the amount of presents under the tree. Followed by a slow breakfast, presents, playing, watching isaac beat the girls at wii dance…yes really!  lunch, a snowy walk, chatting to some far away friends on skype and then tea and Toy story in jammies to finish the day….

how was yours?
