new theory – there is a reason why tipis were largely used in dry environments….

yup, that'll be something to do with the large hole in the top which can let in oh, i dont know, maybe the rain!!!!!

being fair to the lovely people who own and manage the tipis they did their absolute best to solve the problems and offered us all manner of dry and warm clothing and sleeping bags but did say 'you know with this much rain, its not going to be completely dry!"

okay, so who is voting for a building next time???

I actually had a very good time though, even though it has taken me nearly two days and nights to get over the serious lack of sleep and the questionable sanitation habits of some of my friends *coughcough***and the 'its raining outside' excuse just dont cut it ladies 😉

So we went for a walk on saturday which i enjoyed, but got somewhat wet…

but at so many moments throughout the weekend i felt like falling on my knees and thanking God for the wonderful 'outdoor and science Bsc' that my husband has because i had, walking boots that didnt leak, walking trousers that repelled the rain, a down jacket that kept me so snuggly and a down sleeping bag that kept me toastie all night and of course this is largely down to Ben's knowledge of the outdoors and the very expensive equipment he has gained over the years but it was…bliss…

We had a lovely evening around the fire pit on our first evening, I chickened out and didnt bring my SLR, so the little canon didnt really cope so well with the light but i did really like this picture.

and the lady on the right of that picture, Alison..some well earned kudos to her, she prepared a meal for 11 with a starter of mozzarella, tomato and avacado, followed by spag bol and then topped off with homemade brownies, in a pretty soggy, crowded tipi. I suppose you think the british love to talk about the weather right? i think we managed a solid 4-5 hours on that subject that night….

So all in all two nights of sporadic sleep, howling winds and driving rain, leaking tipis, midnight walks, a few mad dashes to the toilet, discovering a combination lock on the ladies loo, an enjoyable trek round a lake, fantastic food and fellowship and topped off with one of these…all in all a bit of an adventure!!

my NBF…

is a bottle of aftersun. Me and my oh so celtic skin got into some trouble. <sigh>

The girls had a good afternoon in the garden today, being pretty good little buddies with minimal squabbles…..

I got a breadmaker today from mum and dad for my birthday, we have just enjoyed the first taste, it was good.

Some good news from work. Finally they are recognising the value of what we do.

We got some great ikea patio furniture so we are doing lots of al-fresco

and heck, the sun shone like a trooper all day, even if i am paying for it now 🙂

the little plant type thing in the white pot is Isaac's sunflower which i have just re-located outside with a bamboo cane. Now if you know me, you know that me and gardening are not the closest of buddies but im having a go!!
