the converstions of sisters – #CountryKids

This week has been a bit of a rough week for us. One thing and another getting to the end of the week has seemed like a marathon….and an expensive one at that thanks to our car. *sigh*

I have driven three cars this week, one that was laughably too small, one that was so ‘new’ it didnt have a key which threw me every.single.time and our own juggernaut of a car. But dragging myself and the kids out for an afternoon jaunt round a park was definately the right choice. The girls made me chuckle at their crazy little sister ways and the fun they had out of playing just on ordinary things like some steps and a bench. Its the easy simplicity of childhood.

I took the dog with me and the girls took their scooters..now i know my limitations and upon getting to the park and contemplating two small, very speedy girls on scooters near open water and a very unruly dog was never going to work. So i bribed the girls to leave their scooters in return for a promised cookie at the end of our walk…

we had no bread with us, bad mummy, but these geese just wouldn’t take the hint and followed us most of the way round the lake. Im thinking they had nothing better to do and fancied a bit of a jolly. Or maybe they took the opportunity to do a bit of line formation practice!

ah alas it was closed and we couldn’t go in and see the statues.

is that not the face of a triumphant sibling. Her sister never quite made it…well she did….just not safely!  These two are little chums, most of the time. 😉

yes, her face is muddy…she thought it was funny, it is what they are discussing in the picture below….she had fallen over i think.

look you have a dirty nose! Its muddy! We go for the ‘large coats eliminates the need for gloves’ look at our house? 🙂

hey sis, is it me or is she just putting us in coats that are too big?

For Matilda Mae…

Last sunday morning in amongst all of the general hum drum early morning parenting tweets…i read this:

Our beautiful daughter Matilda Mae was taken from us last night to join the angels in the sky x RIP Beautiful angel daughter x We love you x

I did an incredible double take. Like it would change if i read it slowly..again. But no, it was true and a lady who i have never met but conversed with a few times on twitter had suffered the most horrible loss of her 9 month old daughter. I started following Jennie and her blog when i saw her tweet about her unborn ‘Matilda’ and having a Matilda myself i just felt drawn to follow. Remembering those little newbie days of my own little girl.

I have found myself thinking about her so many times this week. Jennie is being so incredibly supported by the blogging/tweeting community and watching those invisible internet arms holding and bearing her up in her sorrow is quite remarkable. One of the most beautiful comments i read that demonstrates this was from a comment of another mummy blogger who had tragically also lost a baby.  I think Jennie was thanking her for her help and input and she responded with the question ‘If we can’t help those that follow us, what is the point of us going through the pain?’

Its like each family, each woman who has walked through the valley of shadows has left a safe place full of pictures, words, thoughts and prayers to encourage and comfort those newly bereaved, stricken and shocked by grief afresh. Somewhere to stand, weep and be held up by the experience and care of those who have walked the path before.

It is truly inspiring.

Jennie is making a pinterest board to her beautiful girl and i had wanted to do add something to it. So i asked my lovely friend, Melanie Grimes. A super talented scrapbooker to do something for me..and here it is with some words from that legendary storyteller Hans Christian Anderson…

Rest in peace little miss Matilda Mae..

Then the child opened its eyes, and looked up into the angel’s beautiful face, which beamed with happiness, and at the same moment they were in heaven, where joy and bliss reigned. The child received wings like the other angel, and they flew about together, hand in hand.

new beginnings…the daily shutter

It’s only the beginning now
…a pathway yet unknown
At times the sound of other steps
…sometimes we walk alone

The best beginnings of our lives
May sometimes end in sorrow
But even on our darkest days
The sun will shine tomorrow.

So we must do our very best
Whatever life may bring
And look beyond the winter chill
To smell the breath of spring.

Into each life will always come
A time to start anew
A new beginning for each heart
As fresh as morning dew.

Although the cares of life are great
And hands are bowed so low
The storms of life will leave behind
The wonder of a rainbow.

The years will never take away
Our chance to start anew
It’s only the beginning now
So dreams can still come true.
