run…run…run

so only two posts this week but i am running on a constant ‘catch my tail’ mode at the moment. My life has been all thrown in the air and in the next couple of weeks i am planning to have all those bits and pieces that make up my life back in order…..its just that with work and nursery school being new added dimensions, i need to figure out what that will look like……

so….the thing i was going to talk about tonight was a lovely little thing that happened at work on wednesday. I had quite an interesting day back at work. It felt easy going and I did feel like i hadnt been away that long.

So, i was working in one of our intensive care rooms and looking after a little boy who i will call Ryan. He was born at 30 weeks and weighs about 3lbs. Sweet little thing, doing really well. I met his lovely mum and dad in the morning. Later on they came back and we discovered that the little thing had managed to wee all over the bed so we undressed him and changed the bed.

I asked mum if she would like to try some skin to skin with Ryan. She looked nervously at me and said ‘maybe tomorrow’ Her husband nudged her and said ‘go on’

So she did. She needed encouragement, i told her to stop worrying about the wires and enjoy her baby. He was quite fussy while he was in the incubator and then settled as soon as he was in her arms. ‘Ther you go’ i said. ‘he knows his mummy’

And for the first time in 7 days a mum got to hold her baby to her chest and breathe in that new baby smell. (that is exactly what she told me).

For me, these lovely, touching moments make my job worthwhile.

have a great weekend. loadsa blessings

    hi
this new working life and nursery is obviously a big change – the blog has dried up. We’re keen to hear more on your thoughts of going, or not,to Canada.
Hope your not to bogged down with ‘life’
