some house pics…finally..

for those of you who have asked and are interested….a few pics of our fabulous new home…

starting with the kitchen/diner/sitting room…its an L shape but pretty big. Our table used to dominate our previous house, it is the same one here and it seems a lot smaller in this kitchen..

the bathrooms…always important…

P1100545 that is the restored, original 1930’s bathtub folks!!! any ideas on how to stop the enamel disappearing down the drain much appreciated 🙂 There is a loo, sink and shower cubicle in there too but that pic, with all of them in, proved a bit too challenging!! haha

P1100543this pic hardly does this room justice…this is probably the room that clinched it for me. It is floor to cieling in stone tiles and has a walk in shower with one of those massive square heads. (one of those, no way you would keep your hair dry type showers!)One of my fav things to do is stand in the shower with the window a bit open in the morning and listen to the birds that reside in the enormous amount of trees that surround our house…its bliss 🙂
the garden…
P1100520the building to the left is what was the original garage…which is now a store and utility room with plumbing and electrics etc. There is also an outside funtioning toilet (which the kids love) and another storage area round the back. The garden goes around the side quite a bit but they previous owners ‘barked’ that area for their kids swings and slides etc..we wondered about turfing it but it is actually coming in useful as it is..so not so sure…

So obviously there are the other rooms too..four beds and two further reception rooms…but these are my favourites…well that and the understairs cupboard!!

So this is us for the time being, its weird moving into a house that needs so little doing to it. We are so blessed to have found this little gem being sold really below what is worth. Well, so the people in the know tell us 😉

Being able to just ‘be’ as a family and not worry about work to do, walls to strip, boards to sand, walls to knock down, or any of the other things that took us nearly 5 years to do in our last house (with less kids!!)

I love the fact that our decision making about this house has been restricted to things like ‘shall we get a new sofa?”

yippee skippee..and to top it all, it rained today so i dont have to water the plants….planted by my wonderful mum who may have to come and stay here for the summer as i am quite ‘horticulturally’ challenged!!

Great to see pics of the house. Looks and sounds huuuge! We certainly know the value of space living in a tent or motel room at the moment. We’re in Vancouver so thinking of you. Hoping to go across the suspension bridge tomorrow, if we are brave enough. Love the photos of the girls in the last blog. Did you get the new camera?
