More memory lane…

well…sort of….i mentioned that my brother used to play rugby. I used to be a horse rider/competitor and teacher at one stage in my life. So i'm sure big bro spent a lot of time standing around watching me compete so we are equal. His rugby and football for my horses. quitsee's. 🙂

Anyway the reason im saying that is because last saturday we visited Aintree Racecourse which is were the Grand National is run for those of you that dont know.

I was never going to be a jockey..not the right…er…build…and i was never really interested in horse racing either. Sometimes more about the betting than the horses i guess. But i did like to ride a horse called Jacob from a yard i worked in about a million years ago who was an ex racehorse. My. word. that horse could move. He had an extra gear, it was incredible.

Anyway we didnt go to watch the horses…'cos there weren't any there…we went to an emigrate expo and the kids did well for a while but then we went off to explore…

This jump is called 'the chair' and its hard to tell but i could have lay down in that gap. Head to foot from one side to the other…national jockeys are nutters…

The kids weren't really interested in seeing the jumps..i wanted to find canal turn..so we had some fun on those h-u-g-e stands…

‘hup hup hup…’

or other assorted macho rugby type noises….

Rugby1

I sat and watched a game, well a bit of a game while Isaac was in a party. Ben had walked the girls home and I decided to be a bit frivolous with my time and just hang about….and i had my camera with me. It was such a beautiful autumn day…tiny bit cold but still a little bit of warmth in the sun that i thought i would go for a walk and i ended up here. Shooting pictures of people i dont know playing a game I dont really understand….

My brother played rugby…a lot and so i got to watch a lot when i was younger and i realise now that i clearly didnt pick up anything from my days of standing on the touch lines. It did drag me back down memory lane tho. I remember watching him play at around this time of year, it was always cold anyway…the noises from the scrum, the greasy hot dogs and tea from the club house and invariably a bloody eye or nose or whatever..its a rough old sport and sometimes you just have to think…

why?

Why not…cup of tea and a cookie?

Im kidding….im kidding….

anyways…

I spent a little time trying to work out what was going on but gave up quickly and just took some pictures. I think one guy in particular clocked me and gave me some quite strong stares (he is standing up at the back of the scrum picture and looking straight at me in the last one)…..probably not a good idea to upset him…im hoping that if anyone says anything it will be a case of 'i thought she was with you?

I could have been a friend of one of them..there were about a thousand people on each team by the looks of it…heh heh 🙂

i see trees that are green….

Treesthataregreen

..is that song in your head now? Well there are worse tunes to be in your head, lets face it. Im usually singing something from cbeebies that i cant seem to shake from my sub consciousness. A friend of mine once said that when your brain switches to 'screen save' mode often there is some little catchy number circulating in the quiet. For a long time in my brain it was the 'Thomas the tank engine' tune…."its 2, its 4, its 6, its 8..shunting trucks and moving freight…'

never mind…
Anyway Wonderful world is not 'thomas and his friends' and so i will happily have that going round in my head a while.

BUT…to get to some sort of point..I took this picture last sunday. What i like about it is that is looks so peaceful and quiet but actually there was a game of rugby being played on one side of these trees and a game of footie on the other….and i took some pics of the rugby game too…um…just because….

honest….

they might just be up next 🙂

8 months…

Matilda8months

Yes..yes she is…*sigh*

In fact she was actually 8 months about 10 days ago but in the blur of her sister's party i didnt realise..

Our sweet Matilda Rose….today you are:
  • Still content to sit…..crawling is not in your vocab as yet. Its cool
  • Has rolled over from front to back but not really too fussed about that one either. Its okay with us.
  • When you are in your car seat you hang onto the handle with both hands like you are just about to set off on a rollercoaster.
  • Has gone from being a little bit 'unfriendly' at times to being a little bit more smiley
  • Sleeps (usually) through the night, although that does depend on your definition of 'morning!"
  • Has learnt to 'bounce' her bed by herself, she pushes her legs up under her bottom and then drops down and gets a nice little bounce going. Yes I realise the issues with her moving into a cot..before you all say it..she is just staying in her nest till her legs hang over the end….
  • Tried 'falafal' last night and seemed to like it. Got to dig that 'cos its one of my favourite foods 🙂
  • Likes to feed herself.
  • Has managed some 'payback' on her sibs in the way of hair pulling and face squishing. I told 'em I did…
  • Squeals really really high pitch.
  • Has those incredible blue eyes and blonde hair atop.
  • Is in a size 3 nappy and size 6-9 month clothes.
  • Still no teeth…nah….not worried…they are not late in this family 🙂
  • Favourite game is waving her arms, she does it when she is happy, excited or indiscriminately when we are out and about. Works well on old ladies who think she is waving at them
  • Wont keep socks on….which i dont really have a problem with but a lady told me off the other day for letting her get cold feet….*gasp* what a terrible mother!
  • Says 'da da da' and blows the coolest raspberries that make us all laugh so of course she carries on doing it…workin' the crowd..that's my girl :)

I realise that i changed from first person to second person half way through that list…umm..lets just go with it. Fluidity in grammar is a good thing.

here she is again…showing a little bit of sass…

falling a little bit…

in love with this new baby…

500x_IMG_5974_01

and no..it isnt mine 🙁

But Canon have just released this and i have been reading about it on line like some people read about celebrities. Hello baby…

I think i knew slightly over 2 years ago when i was fortunate enough to get my first DSLR, the Canon 400 that the love affair wouldnt last forever. Dont get me wrong, I Love my camera…probably a little too much really but as I continue on my photography journey I have started to look up the ladder. Its like going from a starter home to a semi-detatched with a garden 😉

and this camera….yeah..it has some punch. It also has a fairly sizeable price tag too….

but there is room to dream…..more and more i am understanding photography and seeing great pictures and discovering my style too……capturing moments.

I took this on the first day I had my 400. I know…..pretty sad, but I also love this picture and remember the fact that it was quite a dull room and i was able to crank up the ISO and get a decent shot. Which lets face it with a point and shoot would probably have needed a tripod..if it could cope at all….

need i say more?
