down the forest…

with one of our all time fav families….my buddy Mel and her kids came back from Oz for 4 weeks and we caught an afternoon with them at Grizedale forest in the Lakes. So good to see her again and her children who have totally adopted the australian accent. Such gorgeous kids. I have known Mel since school and so we have a fair amount of history together! It was so easy hanging out with them. There has got to be only a few people in your life who you can have limited contact with for a number of months or longer and yet when you get back together it is like the time just melts away and you are back, in the groove, chewing the cud. Love this girl…

the kids got on well. I think Isaac and Jack were a bit nervous of each other to start of with but they worked it out. I dont even think Isaac noticed that Jack was calling him 'i -ZAK' instead of I'-zuk' apparently the aussie way of saying it…

15 weeks….

Little Miss Matilda…you are a creature of habit as most babies are and you have a specific routine you like to stick to in the evening. Usually about 6pm you start getting just a bit scratchy and fussy. Thats our que that its getting time for some down time. That is bath time, usually without your sibs, although sometimes with. Followed by some play on the mat, a bit of kicking, bit of smiling and a bit of sucking your fists.

We have to time that bit right though because sometimes you can just be pushed over the edge and lots of protesting and crying can occur….

but usually you remain good humoured for a while and then the signal that it is time to move on, have a final bedtime feed and snuggle in your hammock…with cuski….and off you nod…

Same thing…every.single.time.

the skinny….

on what has led me back to scrapbooking in the digi format….

Its not a total shocker i have to say, I discovered scrapbooking about 3 (ish) years ago when a friend of mine who is a crafter par excellence did a scrapbook which involved me. Whilst sitting in her dining room feeling pretty overwhelmed by the 'stuff' that surrounds this hobby I came across this book and it just caught my imagination, not least because her stories of family life are funny and insightful but because she made it look straight forward, no tutt (as alan sugar would say)….and so then i got on the gravy train…

For a good few years I dived in with gleeful abandon, trying to understand things which involved heating guns and glittering sprays and fabrics and produced a lot of work which you can see here  and i really really enjoyed it…..it was a new part of me, meant that i got very interested in photography and remembering those little stories that can so easily be forgotten. I was hooked…

Then some weird things happened in the, i guess, glory world of scrapbooking. Yes, there is scrapbooking celebs, i got a little disheartened with ordering stuff from the US, paying import taxes, it not being what it looked like on the web and also the sheer cost of it. Add to that the incredible mess you make when completing one layout and i just shelved it…literally…

that must have been at least a year ago…

Plodding along I have kept up with my blog and kept up with my photography, the two things that I loved most about scrapbooking….writing and photos…..

slowly..slowly it has dawned on me that the perfect way to carry on preserving the past for the kids is to carry on with scrapping but in a way that suits me now, where i am and with the things that I love.

This is me, i love technology, im discovering that i love photoshop..oh..my..it is clever!, i love just clicking the save button, turning the screen off and going to bed..i love the endless useage of the products, alphabets that don't go unused because they no longer have any vowels, it sits well with the environmentally friendly part of me. It appeals to me to be on the dark side of scrapping. Yeah apparently there is a bit of argie bargie between those who digi and those who don't….all i can say is….

tolerance….people…..

its the way forward.

So im back, looking for photo opportunities and perusing scrapbooking shops of the digital kind, got to love the downloadable products…..and staying up way to late …

its good to be back

🙂
