A little story to share from two weekends ago. We went over to York for my nieces birthday. I mentioned that a few days ago with some photos. Well i think i said something about Isaac enjoying the party games.

At one point the kids where all doing musical bumps/statues etc and the clown asked the kids to pretend to be an animal when the music stopped. I was kind of at the back of the bunch with Isaac at this point and i said to him…’what animal are you going to be’ I thought he would choose a dog or a cat or tiger or something.

he thought for a minute, quite seriously, then said ‘an elephant’

Thats great i said to him, how are you going to be an elephant? and he showed me his moves etc…

Anyway the music stopped and ALL of the other kids got down on their hands and knees and made a variety of lion/tiger type noises…

except for my Isaac, stood at the back being an elephant….

Man, was i ever proud of him. You swim against the tide my son.

The most amazing thing happened here the other day. I had a whole day to myself. All my lovely three went off to the childminder and i just had me to look after…boy am i a cheap date. I went to the gym and then came back to the house and did some scrapbooking…..bliss. Dont get me wrong I totally love my kids and want to be and get to be with them A LOT. But its nice on the odd occassion to have a bit of me time. I do get time when ben has the kids or when i got out for the evening. But an entire day is very very rare.
So i just chilled out, did some washing (of course i did, washing is like punctuation, it has to exist or my life wouldnt make sense!) and then sat at my table and made some mess…..
i have looked at a scanner but at the moment its not really possible. So I have taken a few photies of some of the ones i have done. so check this out. I have had to zoom in and crop so that the text is readable. Hopefully you will just get the gist of it.

i just had to post this photo ben took of Maisie about a week ago. we where at some services on our way to devon and we got the kids out of the car and had a bit of a photo shoot.
That is the thing since i started this little interest in scrapbooking. I tend to take the camera EVERYWHERE with us. which is good in some ways because we get on record some of the normal everyday things that we might miss out on. But on the other hand we get a gazillion photos stored on the hard drive of out little macbook pro and they can sometimes seem to be all of the same thing….
so anyway…
just look at this cool little chick. I think this will be her album cover shot, should she every be a rock star…but then she be unlikely to want a picture of herself as a 20 month old…but anyway i can dream…..no pressure kiddo.
But boy is she a gorgeous kid.

Some bits of info….for those of you who want to know ( you know who you are)
1. Maisie has two more teeth!! (now totalling 10!! YAY) i realised tonight that she has got her canines is it? the spikey vampire teeth, through. Might explain some of the behaviour last week.

2. Our little Poppy dop is rolling and rolling…she is funny, she rolls over and then ends up eating carpet for a bit until she is rescued…but doesnt seem to bother her, she just smiles. She is one very cool customer.

3. Isaac has been asking me why you need a rocket to get to space and why cant planes fly into space….ummmm….okay i knew at some stage of this parenting game i was going to meet up with some insecurities about my level of knowledge or lack of it but i didnt expect it to be quite so soon…anyway i think i just about scraped together an answer which seemed to do the trick but im sure glad ben, my dad or my brother (all scientist types) didnt hear it…..

So anyway some little bits of family growing up that is going on here. Hey, very cool thing, yesterday phoned Sky to cancel our package with them. We hardly watch it anymore and it didnt seem worth it. Told the guy on the phone we wanted to cancel and he offered me the pack for 75p a month..yes that is 0.75, as in not quite a quid….man they must be desperate to hang on to people…and yes, i checked for all possible ‘keep you on for a further six months at £500 a month’ type details…..

Ben still thinks we should cancel it, but you never know when you fancy a little bit of channel surfing…mind you the most our tv sees now-a-days is Cbeebies.

so here we are, we have come down to devon today to visit ben’s gran and mum who we havent seen for while and we are booked into a b an b in barnstaple, which is very nice actually. its an old vicarage. The trip down was a bit of a chore, we planned to leave at 9am, but left at 1015. Not bad going i suppose. had a few hold ups, like loosing the car keys and then a guy walking past the car as we where putting the kids in and asking us for a drink of water…….yes seriously, that happened. Talk about odd.

then the journey was predictably delayed in places and so with stops took us nearly 7 hours. Isaac gave us both a heart attack at the services when he was playing on a climbing frame and then suddenly disappeared…..panic started to set in…but then ben found him in the services going up and down the escalatour. needless to say talks where had about strangers and the danger of wondering off..once my heart rate had returned to normal.

so we are staying in this lovely little b and b, only just got the kids to bed. it seems so unfair making the sleep when they are so wired because they have been let out of the car after so long. But anyway they have just finally hit the hay. we lamented the fact that we couldnt get into the travelinn for this trip but this is actually tons better, the kids have a different room to us and so we dont have to sit in the dark once they have gone to bed. Our one problem was that as we only have one travel cot where would we put Poppy? We decided not to bother with finding another travel cot to bring with us but thought ‘oh she’ll be okay on a bed’

it did make me smile when i told the owner of the bandb that we would just put Poppy on a bed with a couple of pillow on either side of her. She looked fairly shocked…….maybe she hasnt got three kiddies so close together or maybe she is FAR more responsible than us…..

so anyway at this moment poppy is asleep on our bed with me typing away on the laptop, how cool this bandb has a wireless network and ben is watching the TV. Not a lot different from home but we have had the bonding experience of 7 hours in the car to get here….

Praise the Lord that we got here safely and that not too many temper tantrums happened…….by anyone of us…..

Today we did it, got all of us in a picture, can you believe it has taken this long. It is a bit ropey, we are all in PJ’s but hey everyone is present and correct and vaguely looking in the direction of the camera. Thanks to the webcam on the mac we managed to get the kids to look at themselves on the mac screen which really helps. Of course it deteriorated into goofing about and there are some pretty funny ones. But anyway wanted to post it.

Check out our grown up girlie in the highchair, she is supported by a few soft books but she is there and at the table with the big kids. Maisie gave her a cheerio yesterday morning which she managed to pick up !!!! But fortunately although she tried to get it in her mouth she couldnt quite work out the unclench fist thing and so i managed to get it off her….. from breast milk straight to cheerios..he he..anyone got a problem with that sort of weaning??

Anyway signing off, had a mad day, very busy. Seen some good friends of ours from London today, that just does your soul good doesnt it? Hooking up with old buddies, i love it. I think they probably come to see the floor show. we just had two the last time we saw them. Maisie is putting up all sorts of tricks at the moment. Gosh can that girl shout and scream when she is bothered….sheesh..more on that another day though.
