Down time

At our house now that school is out… Seems to always start with a large track built around the house and everyone re-discovers the trains….

Down time

although obviously quite a fine line between 'playing nicely' and 'outright squabbling' when you have once bit of track and a couple of drivers trying to go in different directions….in this second picture you can see Maisie adopting the time honoured driving past time of 'excavation of the nose'…..always a classy classic….

Tomato plants….

Growing prolifically on our kitchen window sill……nearly as fast as the kids round here…

Tomato plants....

Tomato plants....

the smell of tomato plants always takes me back to being a kid. We had this hoooge greenhouse and my Mum and Grandad used to plant loads of different things every year but its something about the smell of tomato plants….kind of musty, fresh, green smell…can the colour green have a 'smell'?

Anyway these fellas need to be planted outside now i think they are starting to block the light into the kitchen….hah…they can join the other plants in the torrential rain outside….im thinking we may not get a bumper tomato crop but its been fun watching them grow…and obviously the never ending game of trying to stop Matilda pulling them off the window-sill…

goodbyes….

we have said a few of these today:

1. To Poppy's pre-school….my last one (for a few years) to do the nursery/pre school thing. She goes to such a sweet nursery school. We are waving good bye to them as we look toward another enjoyable reception intake september ahead ;p

2. To the infants for Isaac…he is moving on into juniors and that means more responsibility, i think, from the school's point of view and notably their own pencil cases….

3. To Maisie's friend Katie, who is moving to Scotland in a few days with her family. Maisie is really going to miss her..which is bizarre for us as she has had some settling in issues around and involving this friend….the mysteries of little people's relationships..sometimes i wonder if they are more complex or not than adult ones??

4. To Isaac's super talented drum/guitar teacher Shane. He is moving to London to pursue his music career. We will really miss him, he seemed to understand Isaac and was always so encouraging of him. 🙂

5. To summer….seriously it has rained and rained and rained and rained…..dont believe me? have a look at this

6. To a few loads of chocolate for all the brownies we made to give to the teachers.

7. To the end of Matilda's reaction to her MMR…she spiked a temp and got a rash…made her a nice little girl to hang around with…..

8. To a moderate sum of cash when we purchased a truly enormous tent for our summer adventures…hoping that point 5 isnt actually true or i will be sitting here weeping in september and probably growing mold and with a bad case of foot rot….

9. To the end of 10 and half hour night shifts and hello to 12 hours night shift. Going to work at 7pm still feel wrong….

10. To a load of clubcard vouchers as we plan some fun things for the summer. One benefit of landing sooooo much of our income at the door of the mega giant supermarket is that we can cash in the tokens to do some fun stuff…..good to know that all those pints of milk are paying for a visit to Pizza express!!!

Im outta here and off to work

so its not tuesday…

and realistically the speed our broadband is going tonight im not going to have the stamina to sit here and load pictures and come up with 10 points because i would be here alllllll night….

im blaming the storm….

so today i had a lovely encounter with someone i vaguely know through someone else and they watched me trying to negotiate an ice cream shop with my three 'i wanteees' and a 'grumbling, irritable, feeling crummy baby in a stroller' and launched the following, wonderful, uplifting remark at me….

' so…still struggling on then?'

Im sorry…but WHAT THE HECK?!!!…… am i still struggling on? Oh did i miss the sign that said someone else was going to look after my kids..or maybe that there would be a point (which again seems to have bypassed me) at which someone is going to come up to me and say 'hey now..enough struggling…let me burden some of that for yer?''….really? huh?..was it going to be this vaguely known to me man? or was it that he just couldnt think of anything else to say given the floor show? hmmm? 'cos really next time i'd prefer some flowers…..or chocolates…..or a smile…

Anyway I merely stared at him and thought 'idiot'…or something like that..and went on my way,   as much as you can do when you have to corral three kids out of a shop, there is no flouncing off when you have three small people with their very own free wills to take with you….pfffftttt… someone lend me a sheep-dog please!

So yeah…on the subject of my wonderful, occasionally not so well controlled children..Here is my oldest girl doing her first ever piano concert. She is but 5, she was the youngest by a way that agreed to play and she has only been learning for a short while…but we are gut bustingly proud of her….

and that isn't even ten points for a tuesday that isnt…its hardly even one point…more like some inner ramblings…..

and maybe a  touch of blown off steam….
