sick-ville..

yeah we seem to have got a one way family ticket. I think we are clocking up nearly three weeks now of someone or all being sick with either a rather nasty tummy bug, that got us all in the end, including me twice we think and now we have moved on to a fever-ish, flu, cold type thing which is wiping the kids out and leaving me and Ben ready to go to bed at about 8pm every night!!!

Its draining, I have lost count of the amount of bedding, towels, and sick buckets I have washed out. We are on our second bottle of calpol and nurofen, I do NOT believe in feeling the pain, pain killers are available, we will take whatever we can, especially when it comes to making life a bit easier for the kids…which of course means us too! There is probably one or two nights in the past three weeks when Ben and I have been in our own bed all night without either many visits to the kids or them visiting us and staying put in our bed….i think when i worked a night in the NICU a couple of weeks back I got a better sleep on my break than i would do at home…seriously!!..that of course was the night that poor Maisie came down with the tummy bug and threw up all over our bed and Ben had to deal with it solo…

I am a bit of an infection freak, i know this, I work in intensive care with some very vulnerable little people and so it comes with the territory but at the moment i am just trying to keep the amount of bugs in the house to a minimum and only allow the kids to go into other kiddy places if need be. Its easier to be honest that constantly watching out for dribbly, coughing, infectious 'other' kids sneezing and chewing toys that a few minutes later you see your own child chowing down on….bleugh!!

and for baby james 4, who seems to be auditioning for 'riverdance' every night, the moment gets closer to when we meet our sixth and final member of the family. I can only hope and pray that we can shoo the bugs away from the door by that time or that it will be blissfully protected by its mother's immunity that is being so widely developed at the moment that it will sail through this horrid, crappy winter bug time without a worry.

here endeth the rant…..

its a bit scary just how much influence this decision that our american friends are making has on us as a people and a country. But it does. I spent a lot of time whilst on my numerous kiddy sick days this week watching some of Obama and McCain's speeches. I think my vote would probably go with Obama but then again I can see where McCain would be a good choice too. Just got to hope that whoever takes over the white house makes some good decisions that may just change things for all of us.

Poppy
Maisie
Hannah (our lodger)
Ben
Me….

all been got by the bug. Ben and I seem to have got off with a little bit more moderate version. But Isaac is the last man standing…at the moment..

sick day

little miss Poppy was sick yesterday, during the evening on sunday she went downhill and then spent the rest of the night till about 3am i think not being very well. Ben and i have different views when it comes to vomiting bugs. He goes with the 'dont drink anything and then once your tummy is empty, there is nothing more that can come' I go with the drink water and then at least you are not dry retching, which is never pleasant especially when you are nearly 3.
