Where i would like to be right now….

Whistlerm

never mind that i can look at that picture and almost taste the freshness of the air and the warm sun on my face….but see how there is no one there? i like.

its been a somewhat difficult day, Isaac has been a bit of a naughty boy at school and i got to see his teacher, after being called in from the play ground this afternoon, the girls have been at each other all day. Poppy seems to be in the worst mood ever and Maisie is just floating between crying enough for the people in manchester to hear and being a laughing maniac whilst tormenting her sister. its been a fun day.

So Maisie had her first swimming lesson…

on wednesday…

and you might wonder why there is a picture of Poppy….

Well, it unfolded thus…..

we got to the pool as usual, like we have done for the past year on a wednesday. Except, this time Isaac and Maisie were getting changed to go in the pool.

It only took Poppy about a milli-second to realise that she wasnt included and she sobbed and sobbed. Not just a little upset you understand. About 20 minutes of uncontrolled sobbing punctuated with the odd ‘NO MUMMY!” when i tried to stop her stripping off at the side of the pool. Made for great poolside viewing im sure 🙂

I felt awful, horribly guilty for depriving her of going in the pool (and..er she cant, they have to be three and half) and just awful for her being the third child in our family and having to watch everyone else ‘do it first.’ I held her and reassured her that she would get her chance and that i was sorry that she couldnt be part of it.

I think largely it was to do with Maisie going and not her. It made me realise just how close a bond they have. Poppy usually is very happy to wave Isaac off in the pool and go and play in the sports centre corridors with Maisie but seeing her playmate take a new experience without her just seemed to break her heart.

Its hard being the littlest.

happy mother’s day…

we had a very enjoyable, if a little expensive, meal at a local bistro and the kids sat for pretty much most of it. bless ’em. A small heart attack was had when Maisie knocked my camera bag onto the floor and a lens fell out….

yeah…

felt very sick….

but all i can say, is thank God for lens protectors and moreover for my Dad who thought to get them.

Hope you mums out there had a good day.
